Systematic supervisory control solutions for under-load tap-changing transformers

چکیده
Discrete-event systems (DES) can be found as essential integrated subsystems in many complex systems, e.g. electrical power systems. Under-load tap-changing (ULTC) transformers which obviously have discrete-event behavior are widely used in transmission systems to take care of instantaneous variations in the load conditions in substations. In this paper, the voltage control problem in ULTC is solved in different modes of operation, using DES-based solutions. These solutions include: DES supervisory control, timed DES supervisory control and a hierarchical structure for the control system. It is shown that the specifications are controllable and the closed-loop control system is non-blocking. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Synthesis of Supervisory Control of Discrete Event System for Static VAR Compansator
This paper presents the application of discrete event system in the field of power system. In power system there are various components which required control and coordination when they are in operation. The theory of discrete event system has been applied in the application part of power system. The discrete nature of ULTC and discrete switching behavior of SVC are best suited for the supervis...
متن کاملFuzzy Logic Controller to Improve the Coordination of Cascaded Tap Changers
The transformers which connect the different voltage levels in transmission and distribution systems are supplied with on-load tap changing mechanism. The on-load tap changer maintains the voltage amplitude within the predefined limits at the so called regulation bus. In a radial feeder, the on-load tap changers are cascaded. Poor coordination between cascaded tap changers causes improper volta...
متن کاملInnovative Transformer Load Tap Changer Control Using Ethernet-Based Communications
This paper describes the design of a load tap changer (LTC) control for up to four parallel transformers using a modified circulating current approach. The LTC control discussed in this paper was implemented using programmable logic, math functions, and IEC 61850 communications over fiber-optic Ethernet. One LTC control is associated with each transformer. The current angle from each LTC contro...
متن کاملAn Extended Conic Quadratic Program for Load Flow Control
Power flow solutions form the basis for computer-based steady-state network operation and planning. In modern power networks, accurate power flow computations need to account for models of controllable devices such as tap-changing transformers, phase shifters, and unified power flow controllers. This paper presents a new load flow control optimisation framework based on an extension of the coni...
